DESCRIPTION AND ADVANTAGES OF THE SYSTEM

There are many advantages of using VIVES porcelain tiles in façades.

FAÇADES

Using an appropriate application system in conjunction with the inherent benefits of VIVES ceramic products achieves optimal results for façades both technically and aesthetically.

A ventilated façade is a wall covering system that incorporates a ventilated cavity between the covering and the insulation. In European academic circles this type of façade is considered to be the most efficient system for insulating buildings as it eliminates unwanted heat bridges and condensation problems, resulting in excellent thermal-hygrometric behaviour.

In this proposal, Technical Solutions by VIVES presents building solutions with superlative technical features for Ventilated Façades and Panelled Façades.

ventajas del sistema de fachadas ventiladas

25-35% energy saving: thanks to the thermal insulation generated by the air cavity between the exterior and the interior of the building.

10-20% noise reduction: the system involves the installation of an insulating layer that acts as a noise barrier.

Protection against atmospheric agents: the system prevents water filtering through the walls, which results in less wear on the façade and lower maintenance costs.

Modern façade design: the aesthetic and technical diversity of VIVES ceramic products combines technology with modern and avant-garde architectural styles.

COMPONENTS AND USES OF THE SYSTEM

Correctly installing the system makes façades more durable.

COMPONENTS OF THE SYSTEM In visible or hidden clip point systems the system is made up of aluminium T profiles fastened to the support by means of cantilevers. The insulation is installed on the support behind the profiles. The covering is then mechanically attached by means of individual clips, which may be visible or hidden.

These fastening systems assume the load generated by the covering and transmit it to the bearing wall.

USES OF VENTILATED FAÇADES:

There are different categories of ventilated façade usage:

According to construction type:

  • New build
  • Restoration

According to building use:

  • Public
  • Commercial
  • Residential
  • Industrial

CONTINUOUS HIDDEN SYSTEM

The Continuous Hidden System is a mixed mechanical and chemical hidden longitudinal fixing system that works by the compression exerted by the system on the back of the tile. Two pairs of slots on the back of the tile allow the insertion of aluminium profiles that, fixed by means of stainless steel screws, result in a solid structure.

The system avoids the possible risk of detachment in case of breakage due to the tension exerted by the fixing element on the tile coinciding with the parts that have been manipulated, by exerting controlled pressure on the area surrounded by stress cones. For this reason, this system can be considered the safest system on the market. In addition, it provides for the replacement, if necessary, of only one tile.

HIDDEN CLIP SYSTEM

To clad a ventilated facade, Hidden Clip is a hidden and longitudinal chemical and mechanical fixing system. The hidden mechanical fixing device is made with a stainless steel clip screwed to the vertical structure. The tile is held in position by these steel clips, as their flanges are inserted into the grooves previously made in the edge of the tile. These slots are manufactured with an industrial machine under the highest levels of safety control, to ensure that  the depth and width of the slots achieve the standards.

On the critical surface between the rear of the tile and the vertical substructure, lengthways, there is an elastic adhesive cord fixed type MS, which provides the system with a chemical longitudinal fixation.

In addition, the use of this elastic adhesive makes it possible to absorb the movements of the tile caused by the wind (the "movements of the plates" or vibrations of the ceramic tiles are eliminated) and therefore the tile is not in direct contact with the structure, so the adhesive absorbs the different expansions between the different materials.

Furthermore, this longitudinal ceramic fixation of the structure allows that, in case of accidental breakage of a porcelain tile due to impact of one type or another, most of the tiles remains adhered to the substructure without detaching.

HIDDEN-MIXED CONTINUOUS SYSTEM

This system is the result of the advances made by our Technical Department that considers innovation as the fundamental tool to achieving a differentiation with ventilated facades.

In this mixed hidden fixing system (mechanical and chemical), the tiles are placed diagonally, resulting in a façade with a scale like shape, which offers a totally innovative finish compared to the traditional systems. A pair of longitudinal grooves on the upper and lower back of the tile and a state-of-the-art MS elastomer adhesive allow the fixing of the hanger and closure profiles that are hung on a horizontal structure.

The system foresees the replacement, if necessary, of a single tile piece, as well as the regulation piece by piece due to the appearance not looking square.
