VIVES launches new Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for porcelain tiles and wall tiles

VIVES Cerámica launches the new Environmental Product Declarations (EPD’s) for its range of Porcelain tiles and ceramic wall tiles, under the seal of AENOR’s global EPD, which conforms to the international standard UNE-EN ISO 14025.

An Environmental Product Declaration is a voluntary eco-labelling system, using Type III eco-labels, conforming to ISO 14025 and ISO 21930, which disclose information relative to the environmental impact of a product, in a transparent and verifiable manner.  This information is based on an exhaustive analysis of the life cycle of a product, from the moment of production to the end of its useful life.

The Environmental Product Declarations provide detailed quantative, contrastable and objective information relating to environmental issues for subjects such as natural resource consumption (water, energy and renewables), potential to impact on global warming or the creation of waste products.  As such, an EPD is a tool that provides vital information to the relevant markets and professionals, with an ever greater sensitivity to environmental impact.  They allow comparisons and product choice based on this factor resulting in the ability to prescribe more sustainable Construction projects.

In 2010, Vives Cerámica was a pioneer in Spain in obtaining a Environmental Product Declaration for construction materials and now, the company presents new versions updated, verified and registered within the AENOR Global EPD program.
