Mercado Little Spain wins the award for Best Commercial Tile Design at the CID Awards 2020

The project Mercado Little Spain designed by the Spanish Capella García Studio has been awarded Best Commercial Tile Design (Hospitality) at the 2020 CID Awards presented by the Coverings Exhibition Fair.

Mercado Little Spain, the gastronomic offering by chef José Andres and Adrià Brothers, opened on March 15, 2019 in New York City, becoming the latest addition to the Think Food Group. The project is a modern and avant-garde gastro version of the traditional Spanish market, with more than 3,200 square meters divided into different connected themed areas. A symbolic and representative design of Spanish culture, in which VIVES Cerámica products were selected. In total, over fifty different references were used including some of their most emblematic designs by the brand such as the Strand porcelain tile series inspired by the OSB aesthetics; the Faro vintage ceramic wood and the World Woods porcelain tile series; the Variette Sombra encaustic tiles; the floral-inspired Patchwork wall tiles combined with the World Streets porcelain tile series, among many others.

Coverings is the most important ceramic tile and natural stone trade fair and exposition in North America. Once again the Coverings Installation & Design (CID) Awards was celebrated, which rewards outstanding achievements in the design and installation of tile and stone in both residential and commercial projects. An expert jury was in charge of evaluating the most outstanding projects taking into account the execution, original usage, overall design and presentation, and finally giving the special recognition to those projects exemplifying spectacular tile applications.
